There are many anti-viral applications to protect personal computers - each one of them is often better than others at detecting certain types of viruses. This, of course, has made many of us decide on having more than one type of anti-viral programs on our computers. The Handy Bits VirusScan Integrator utility merges the anti-viral programs already installed on our machines into a single system, allowing us to scan files using several antiviruses.
When I launched the program, I was presented with easy-to-follow instructions on adding my programs using the Add New Virus Scanner wizard. New antiviruses can also be added manually. The File Filters feature allows choosing specific file formats or extensions for scanning. I simply dragged and dropped the files and folders I wanted to scan into the Scan for Viruses window, but files can also be selected directly. After I clicked on the Scan for Viruses button, I was prompted whether the Integrator should communicate with the installed virus scanners to launch them - the whole process was that easy.
